Hospice of Texarkana, Inc.

Grant Date: April 1, 2012

Grant Award Amount: $8,000.00

For 24 years, Hospice of Texarkana/Hospice of Hope (d.b.a. Hospice of Texarkana, Inc.) has treated patients with Breast Cancer who were in need of hospice care, regardless of their ability to pay.  In fact, many patients have exceeded insurance policy limits and their personal savings when they come to us.  So, it is a huge relief to breast cancer patients and their loved ones that we will provide all of our services regardless of their ability to pay.  In fact, whether they have insurance benefits or not, once they become one of our patients, they will not receive any kind of bill for the services or medical equipment we provide.  Our billing staff files on whatever benefits they have and they are not expected to make-up differences.  This is part of the relief offered by our nonprofit agency.

Patients and their families are typically referred to us by their physicians because they see the need for comfort care-symptom management.  Curative options have been exhausted and the physician wants their patient’s symptoms to be treated.  Hospice of Texarkana/Hospice of Hope specializes in pain and nausea relief and provides all medicines needed to control problems caused by the breast cancer, including: medical equipment, skilled nursing care 24/7, and home health aide assistance.  Additionally, we offer consolation to their family for a year beyond the patient’s death.
